This is a cute picture but nothing in it was really over the moon. A real waste of Russell Brand and not the best way to further introduce him to North American audiences. As a rental it works out nicely on account of the fact that you can get comfortable, pause, order Chinese, and do all those things not permitted at the cinema. Adam Sandler never lets us down, it’s just that the bar is so high that a good movie with good moral values that makes you smile doesn’t do it for us–sad as it is. You come off watching Don’t Mess With The Zohan and then get this delightful and sweet movie and it’s just not what you expect. This film is a good film and satisfies all he paradigms of good movie making–it’s just a matter of what you want to see Sandler doing in the moment. And I guess I just wanted something a little more Little Nicky and a little less Goodie Goodie Disney.
I recommend this one for adults and kids. Adam Sandler proves to be a fixture in comedy that can provide comedy suitable for all audiences. A great babysitting movie and one that will remind you how important it is that kids learn about and get to enjoy bedtime stories.
